Filler

Posted by: classicalmusic on: June 22, 2009

Filler which can be found under the puzzles and games section of Addictinggames.com is a really good game that gets you thinking and trying to work out different ways of beating the system. The concept is so simple but provides hours of entertainment and relaxation but luckily no frustration.

The game is simple, by clicking on the mouse you are making a ball grow, at any point you can take your finger off the mouse and the ball will stop growing. There are a number of small bouncy balls on the screen, the number is determined by the level you are playing. If a bouncy ball hits your growing ball while it is growing, it is popped. If you have taken your finger off the mouse and the ball has stopped growing then your ball cannot be popped.

The aim of the game is to try and cover two thirds of the screen with your balls before you lose all of your lives. The higher the level the more lives you get but also the more annoying little balls there are across the screen. After playing a few games I found the best way was to make the balls as large as possible and try and trap the bouncing balls so they can’t do any harm.

One of the nice things about this game apart from the fun aspect is that the music is quite fitting, it is what I would call whale music and believe it or not, it actually helps you to concentrate and try and do better. This is definitely a game I would come back to time and time again as I enjoyed it and I want to get a better score each time

Bluegadon

Posted by: classicalmusic on: June 14, 2009

Bluegadon is a cute game that you can find on the addictinggames.com website. It is one of the new games that are advertised for this month. Bluegadon is a very simple concept. All that you have to do is avoid the different falling objects which can hit and kill you.

In the Bluegadon game you are a small blue hollow square that is controlled by your mouse movement. The enemies are little red shapes that move all over the screen depending on the level that you are at. At the start of the game you are given a mission to reach a certain number of points in order to jump to the next level. The first few levels are very easy but still fun to play.

The enemy shapes come at you from all different areas of the screen and the higher the level is the more shapes and different kinds of shapes that there are. If you hit any of the shapes or one of the sides of the walls then you are automatically killed and the game is finished. Bluegadon does not have any music to accompany it but in this case you do not miss it. It is a game that you can have on your favorite’s browser and play every so often when you need a break from the stresses of normal work or home life. You can play Bluegadon against yourself and always try to better your score or you can play the game against others and see who can get the better score. Whichever you choose to play, it is fun and in a strange sort of way rather relaxing!

Blocker

Posted by: classicalmusic on: June 1, 2009

Blocker is a game that holds so much promise, a great sounding name, the home page looks great and it is advertised as a full action game that can be found in the addictinggames website. But when you get down to it, Blocker is a very average game with very average graphics and basically average everything.

The concept of the game is nice, you are a triangle that has to get through lots of bubbles that are pushing you out of the way. It sounds like fun. But once you are in the game you see that the graphics are very dull, white hollow bubbles on a blue background. The triangle is flashing dark pink and light blue with a little fire power at the back. Moving the triangle is odd also, you have to use the letter keys, W, A, S and D. With most games today it is easy and every player is used to using the arrows. Shooting the bubbles is done by the space bar.

So basically only if you are a left handed person is this game comfortable for you. You have to maneuver using your left hand on the WASD keys and your right hand on the space bar to shoot. This is not the easiest way to play even for the more coordinated amongst us. The music is rather jazzy but all the same tone and after a while becomes very boring and repetitive. There are different levels to the game but to be quite honest I was not interested in trying to pursue the game and get to a higher level. Sorry but as you may have gathered, Blocker would not be one of my chosen games!

The Impossible Quiz

Posted by: classicalmusic on: May 24, 2009

This is a great game and can be found in the addictinggames.com website under puzzles and games. Some genius must have sat for hours devising all these questions. A lot of the questions are trick questions and you have to think very carefully how to answer.

Basically the game comprises of questions and you have to answer them as you progress. For each game you are given three lives, a life is taken every time you get a question wrong. At first you may get the mistaken impression that the questions are easy and this leads you to not thinking properly. The questions are not easy, they are clever. Some of them can even be considered impossible and it will take you all of your 3 lives and more to figure out what the correct answer is.

As you progress through the game, there are some more tricks added to the game. If you get a certain number of questions right then you get to skip a difficult question, it took me many tries to get to this level. There are some questions further on where a bomb is added. This bomb is your timer and you can be given 1 second or up to 10 seconds to try and answer the question, not very easy I must add!

For all of you smarty pants out there who think you know everything you should try this game, it not only exercises your brain matter but also has some fun aspects to it. This is a game that you can constantly go back to each time you lose as you want to go further and do better. It is a great interlude to a tedious day and also fun to play with your friends to see who can get further.

Armor Picross 2

Posted by: classicalmusic on: May 17, 2009

This is the first game that I have chosen that I can truly say I am totally disappointed with it and I don’t quite understand the point of it. Armor Picross2 which can be found on the addictinggames website is a game about building pictures. You are given a certain amount of lives and you have to try and establish where on a grid the picture is drawn using pixels and identify these pixels.

The game sounds like a nice idea but it is boring. The music that accompanies the game is slow and boring, the actions involved are boring and the only excitement is when the game is over! Basically all that you have to do is click on different squares to try and find where the hidden picture is. Even my 2 year old could play this game without a problem.

You are timed and I guess for those of you who actually like this game, you can time yourself each time to see how long it takes you to find the outline of a house or the Titanic. As the levels of the game go up there are more detailed pictures to try and find with more lives, smaller squares so that you can fit more pixels in the square. If there is a redeeming quality then it will be that the harder the game becomes the more interesting. Armor Picross 2 is not a game for me and not one that I can recommend as I like to have fun and entertainment when I play games online.

Snowman Salvage

Posted by: classicalmusic on: May 11, 2009

Snowman Salvage which can be found in the addictingames website is a game of strategy, speed and skill. In this winter season, when it is so cold outside, it is nice to sit inside in the warmth and play a game with snow and snowmen while not getting too cold.

The basic idea of the game is that with the snow that falls, you have to try and build snowmen before the snow melts. In order to score points, the snowmen have to stay alive for at least 30 seconds. If a red exclamation mark appears above the snowman then you know you have to add more snow to him as he is melting.

There are different levels to the game and at each level you are given a task or tasks to complete which are basically the number of snowmen that have to be built. After each level you can choose what you want to add to the game, whether it is more snow falling, bigger snowballs, and the ability to carry more snow or more baddies. The baddies are bulldozers who come onto the screen really quickly and are trying to kill off your snowmen. You need to get to the baddies before they ruin your snowmen, by clicking on them they blow up and disappear.

This game is fun and full of action, in order to play successfully, you need to coordinate yourself well. You only have the mouse to move, but you need to be quick in order to keep the snowmen alive and avoid the baddies. This is definitely a game that can be played over and over without it becoming boring!

Mad Virus

Posted by: classicalmusic on: April 26, 2009

Do you think it is easy to spread your germs? Playing this game of Mad Virus helps you to spread your germs across the board. The aim of the game is to spread the virus from color to color. But you can only spread the virus if it is next to that color.

Mad Virus is an easy game to play but there is a catch. You can’t just click on each of the colored squares and hope for the best that the virus is spreading. You are playing against a clock and also a maximum number of clicks it takes you to spread the virus. At the end of each level you are advised how many turns it has taken you to spread the virus and whether you are eligible for the next level.

Each level becomes harder and harder with more and more colors on the screen which makes it harder to get across and you have to think a little bit more when you click on each color to see where it will lead and how the virus will be spread. The game is accompanied by jolly organ music which keeps your spirits up as you go and makes you want to play more.

The more you play the game of Mad Virus the more you want to play and as ever you end up trying to beat your own personal record each time. Mad Virus is fun and definitely a game that I will go back to once in a while when I need a break from the tedium of everyday.

Rome Puzzle

Posted by: classicalmusic on: April 19, 2009

This game should really be called the rebuilding of Rome or “Build a Village”. Whichever way you look at it, it is a strategy game where you need to stay focused and concentrate to keep playing.

Basically it is very similar to a game called Bejeweled if you have ever played it but with an extra twist. In this game you have to match up gold and silver and other symbols in order to move them off the board and gain points. The minimum numbers of symbols that can be matched in a row are 3 but to get to that you can only swap two squares at a time. Different symbols have different values and if you get 4 or 5 in a row then you receive even more points.

The game is played against the clock and after a certain amount of time and points gained, you are taken to the next level. But, on the way you get to help to build your Roman village. Depending on the number of points you have gained in each round, the game will allot you extra time going forward and allow you to buy supplies and later on in the game, receive huts or houses. The supplies that you buy appear on the screen in your game and as you progress, there are fewer and fewer gold coins and more supplies.

This game seems to be endless and is a lot of fun and easy to play. The more you play, the more you want to play and if you think there is no way of getting a vertical or horizontal line of matching symbols, the game will give you hints. Rome Puzzle is fun and relaxing at the same time and definitely a game that you will want more of.

Park My Car

Posted by: classicalmusic on: April 12, 2009

Well if you think yourself a good driver you should have a go at this game. I always thought I knew how to park and what to do when reversing and a parking game would be no problem for me. Boy was I wrong!

It might have something to do with your awareness and how difficult it is when you are looking at things on screen rather than physically inside a car and using your instincts which are built into you. This game sounds so simple and I really did not expect to have a hard time with it. I thought within a few seconds I could be parking the big trucks but somehow the challenge is yet to be beaten by me.

Park my car is a very simple concept. You have a car that needs to fit into a certain space, i.e. you need to park the car. By using the arrows up and down you can reverse and go forward. The left and write arrows turn the wheels to the left and right but one tip to always remember is that you are looking at the screen so it must be the opposite you are looking to do from what you r regular instincts are. The space bar pauses and starts the game and apparently also shoots something but I did not get that far.

One thing is for sure, I will definitely be trying this game more just because I don’t like to be beaten o easily and do not want to give up. I will park the car and I will manage to do the harder challenges!

Jumble Word Vault

Posted by: classicalmusic on: April 5, 2009

Jumble word vault can be found in the addicting games website under the puzzles and boards section. If you think you are a quick thinker and very literate then try your skills at this game.

Word jumble is a game for quick thinkers who can work under pressure. The basic theme is that there is a vault which is locked away by a code; the code is made up of words. There are 3- 5 dials for the vault depending on the level of the game that you are playing. The aim is to try and put together as many words as possible in the limited time you have and if you get these words not only do you get money ( in theory) rewarded but you also open the safe.

To begin with you are given 150 seconds to find 6 words, it sounds simple but with the clock ticking and the annoying assistant manager pointing his watch at you, you really don’t have that much time. Some people thrive under pressure while others find it difficult to perform. If you get an incorrect word Mr. Blum the assistant bank manager pops up at you again and tells you to try again because the vault is not familiar with that word.

If you succeed at the first level you get the chance to earn more money with a bonus word which is 6 letters and you have 60 seconds to try and figure out what it is. After the first vault you are taken to a second vault where you have to choose 8 words in 120 seconds, again at the end of this you are offered a bonus word for more money. The final stage which is the hardest is to find 10 words in 120 seconds.

The game is fun for those of us who like a challenge and consider themselves good at word games. I will definitely be playing it again.
